7eventh Time Down - A Christmas Wish List 2014 biography and history
History ::
The best songs are those that are heard when we need them most—the ones that become lifelines of truth in the midst of uncertainty. Enter “Just Say Jesus,” the powerful title track and lead single from 7eventh Time Down’s sophomore album.

A little boy hears the song after losing a friend in a biking accident and asks his mom if it was written about the tragedy. A mother and father mourn the one-year anniversary of the death of their daughters, and the song helps them through the tear-filled day. A grown man who lost his father is comforted by the song in the wake of childhood memories.

One song, three very different scenarios.

“It’s way bigger than we are as a band. It’s way bigger than we could’ve hoped for because God’s using it,” offers lead singer Mikey Howard of the single’s resonance. The constant stream of stories from fans remind all four band members—Howard (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Cliff Williams (bass), Eric Van Zant (lead guitar) and Austin Miller (drums)—of the power of a song to impact lives. For the Kentucky-bred foursome who grew up playing music together, it’s a privilege to get to steward this song, as well as the others on their new release.

Their second full-length project on BEC Recordings finds the band sharing some narratives of their own on Just Say Jesus. “There’s a story told in each song,” Williams explains. “We write about living and what inspires us because Christians are real people. As believers, God will inspire you. It’s going to be the biggest part of who you are. That doesn’t mean at times you’re not going to write a song that’s reflective of who you used to be. We’re just southern dudes who’ve got dirty pasts just like all the other people who have come to know God.”

The longtime friends are quick to admit that while brokenness is a part of every believer’s life, it’s important to not remain in a place of guilt and shame. The band isn’t interested in pity parties. Instead, they choose to celebrate redemption through their music. “We only touch on a little bit of the brokenness because we feel like that part of our story is the smallest part,” Howard shares. “We focus on what God has done in us through His son Jesus and the cross… We quickly get to the bigger part of the story, the resurrection part, and that’s what our focus is as a ministry—life, resurrection, joy.”

“There’s a lot of hope in this record,” Van Zant adds. He’s quick to acknowledge the power in the simplicity of the new album’s title: “The name of Jesus, nothing trumps that. That’s it. Nothing trumps the name of Jesus ever.”

While every bit as loud and hook-laden as their 2011 debut, Just Say Jesus is a more aggressive, focused and cohesive effort. All four members co-wrote the majority of the 10 tracks, while also lyrically collaborating with respected songwriters Ian Eskelin, Jeff Pardo and Tony Wood. Eskelin (Stellar Kart, Hawk Nelson) produced two of the tracks, while Howard produced the additional eight—a daunting, yet rewarding task for the front man. “It was a great experience. I learned so much,” Howard says. “I had [some producer friends] on speed dial, and if I had questions, I would call them, and they just really sewed into me as a producer and as a writer and just helped me hone in on the craft.”

Ironically, the majority of the album was cut in Howard’s basement studio in Mount Vernon, Ky., the same basement of his childhood home where the band recorded their first song when they were young teens.

Songs like the anthemic “Hurricanes,” the blazing “Renegade” and the iconic “Religious and Famous” provide a sonic assault to the senses, while lyrically radiating a clear message of truth. Miller hopes listeners will find their voice amidst the songs. “As Christians, a lot of times, we get caught up in how to word [our] prayers,” he says, “or you feel like you have to be really philosophical in everything you do, but in reality the Gospel’s simple, and it’s true.”

The second time around, every note and lyric is etched with intentionality. The up-tempo “One I’m Running To” harbors a melody line that sets the pace of racing toward God as the title implies. “This song is about those moments where you have a really big choice to let the weight of life totally crush you...or in spite of that, in that moment making the choice to run toward Christ as fast as you can because you know He’s the only way out, those moments when we choose Christ above all else,” Howard reflects.

For 7eventh Time Down, every song is an opportunity for ministry. The band has toured with a long list of impressive artists, including Newsboys, for King & Country, KJ-52, Manafest, Fireflight and Stellar Kart, among others, and was recently a featured artist on Air 1’s popular “Club Awesome Tour.” Logging nearly 100 shows a year, the band members are true road warriors, carrying full production for their live shows since their earliest days together, handling everything from sound and lighting to stage set-up themselves.

In an effort to expand their ministry beyond their music, the band partners with CURE International, a non-profit that operates hospitals and programs in 27 countries worldwide where patients receive surgical treatment and have the opportunity to hear the Gospel. During the “Club Awesome Tour” alone, more than 38 surgeries were funded.

“It’s literally what Jesus did. He showed up in town; He taught them, and then He healed the sick. He healed them and they received Christ,” Williams observes. “That’s what’s happening with CURE International. They’re going and performing surgeries, healing afflictions and sharing the love of God.”

Whether it’s through a radio single, a tour or their work with CURE International, 7eventh Time Down desires to carry the banner that the God they serve is bigger than any circumstance, any hurt or any music career. Howard aptly sums up the heart of their message as a band: “We just want to gently remind people that no matter what kind of junk you’re carrying around, Jesus is enough.”

A fresh young talent with a profound message for students, 737 (pronounced seven-three-seven), is a rapper from Indianapolis, IN. As a high school student, 737 lived for the limelight of fame on the basketball court—and the benefits of his gained reputation when he stepped out off the court. Family Force 5 - III 2011 Biography and historyFamily Force 5 - III 2011 Biography and history
History ::
Mix a handful of thunderous beats and a dash of dirty Souf swagger in a bucket filled with Southern-fried, greasy guitar. Then roast ingredients all day in the sweltering Georgia heat, pepper with good-time lyrics, and enjoy the spicy southern rock jambalaya of FAMILY FORCE 5. Since 2005, the genre-obliter...ating Atlanta quintet has been setting audiences’ feet alight with their incendiary dance-rock anthems, turning that dance floor into hot coals, refusing to let fans keep their kicks still.

Part party-bangers, part grimy rockers, FAMILY FORCE 5’s booty-quaking beats and face-melting synths have earned them a devout following culled from their seemingly ceaseless touring and chart-topping albums, the group’s previous album 08’s Dance or Die debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #30 and at #8 on the Modern Rock with 13,000 copies sold in the first week.

Their frenetic 2006 debut Business Up Front, Party in the Back was released on Maverick records, but when the major label politics became burdensome, FAMILY FORCE 5 forged their own path, pushing their release to sell over 350,000 digital singles and well over 150,000 albums. It’s the DIY-style that has made this musical family (made up of the brothers Jacob, Josh, and Solomon Olds, and brothers-from-other-mothers, Nathan Currin and Derek Mount) into a self-made juggernaut that steamrollered audiences with their upbeat party anthems and raucous stage antics. Their 2008 follow-up Dance or Die pushed the band further into electro-groove territory, with Solomon’s passionate vocals leading the synth-powered cavalcade.

Now after three years of touring the universe and electrifying crowds at big festivals like Sonisphere and the Vans Warped Tour, the band is back with their new release, III. “We wanted this to be our Thriller album. We just didn’t land the guest appearances by Paul McCartney or Eddie Van Halen,” guitarist Derek Mount jokes about the much-anticipated follow-up to Dance or Die. “We wrote this record everywhere while we were on tour,” says Solomon. “It was written on my laptop and recorded in studios around the world. We wrote nearly 70 songs in the back of the bus, on airplanes, in barbecue joints, and in a cabin in the north Georgia mountains.”

III takes FAMILY FORCE 5 back to their rock roots, and those early days when the Olds brothers would perform in a backyard shed at their parents’ Marietta, Georgia home. Music wasn’t a choice for these brothers; it was in their blood. “We were destined for music,” Solomon says. “We knew we had to do it.” Their father Jerome Olds was a well-regarded singer and their mother was a music teacher. While they were just adolescents, they founded a band, honing their musical chops on stages across the country, until the spirit of rock compelled them to pick up guitars in the 2000’s.

On the new album’s return-to-rock sound, the band resurrects the heavy guitars and bombastic beats of their debut. Opening track “Can You Feel It” explodes with searing guitars and Solomon’s distorted voice slices through the boom-bap of tumultuous drums. “Our goal was to make jock jams for the future,” Derek says about the album opener. “At the time, we were listening to a lot of Sleigh Bells, and we wanted to create something mean and gritty that you could hear on Sportscenter. This track gets people hyped up, and it perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the album.” Unadulterated energy ties the band’s unstoppable genre-hopping as FAMILY FORCE 5 explores low slung bass booms and harmonica howls on “Wobble” and the tongue-in-cheek “scenie baby” call-out pop song, “Tank Top.” These are songs for blaring at maximum volume, blasting from a sweaty club or a low-riding pick-up truck. “III sounds like rock and roll with barbecue sauce,” Derek laughs.

Although they aren’t afraid to take a trip on the ironic side, the band tips their hats to authenticity and the places where they grew up. “We embraced the redneck part of where we are from,” Solomon says. “We tried to run away from it for so long, but there’s no denying: there’s some country boy in us.” On III, the band wanted to infuse a taste of reality too, exploring more than just the party scene that they had been espousing for their career. On “Paycheck,” the band addresses the challenges of living in a country suffering with economic collapse and seemingly incurable unemployment.

“I’m broke/broke as a joke/thinkin’ ‘bout movin’ back in with my folks,” Solomon sings on “Paycheck.”

Along their tireless touring schedule, FAMILY FORCE 5 heard the stories of their fans who were down on their luck, unemployed and struggling to survive. “A lot of America is pretty poor right now,” Solomon explains. “We kept hearing our fans say that they were living paycheck to paycheck. So we wanted to write a song about that, with a positive message that turns it around.”

On the downbeat “Not Alone,” they dig a little deeper as Solomon sings about the anxiety and tribulations induced by leaving their families at home amidst their relentless tour schedule. The song’s desperate longing for restoration also drew inspiration from the severe illness of his brother and bandmate Joshua, who nearly died from kidney failure during the band’s Christmas tour. “We were on tour, and I was in emergency room with him, so there was nobody else out there when I found out that he was really sick,” Solomon remembers. “I felt so alone at that moment in time and I wanted to talk about that in this song. It’s one of the most serious songs we’ve written. We still have some crazy, stupid-fun songs, but now we can get a little deeper. I feel like we’re growing up.”

After a lifetime of making music, FAMILY FORCE 5 have unmistakably come into their own. They’ve forged together their disparate musical influences, their reckless attitude, and heartfelt authenticity into III. Now, with hardships behind them and the open road ahead, the band is on a mission to keep their fire spreading and their family growing.

“FAMILY FORCE 5 is a real, authentic community that transcends the music,” Derek says. “We make music that we love, and we hope other people love it too, whether it makes them break-dance, two-step, or simply smile.”

Welcome to the Family.

History ::
Seventh Time Down brings a raw, uninhibited face to the revered genre of Rock music. Their innovative sound, spawned from the elements of their influences, Lynyrd Skynrd, Bon Jovi, The Outlaws and the Beatles, along with Switchfoot, U2, Coldplay and myriad of other legends, has propelled these four southern boys to be anything but unnoticed. With an unerring instinct in their lyrics, the aim of ...Seventh Time Down is to have the music filter into the innermost parts of you.

Lead singer and guitarist, Mikey Howard, who also writes many of the lyrics, says “When it gets right down to it, I’ve just tried to be who I am. I can’t be anybody but me. Nothing hidden, we’re an “on the surface” band and that comes out in our lyrics.” Four different individuals who boast, friends to the end, Austin Miller on drums, Cliff Williams, bass and Eric VanZant, lead guitar, bring a melding of harmony, rock and a unique essence of soul searching to the stage and to their writing. Hailing from Kentucky, Seventh Time Down has managed to create a sound that draws from their southern rock roots, but also manages to infuse that gritty American sound with radio-friendly pop hooks and brit-rock-influenced anthems. This combination gives their music its own distinctively unique voice that will never be confused with anything else.

History ::
Matt Redman (born 14 February 1974) is an English Christian worship leader, songwriter and author based in Atlanta. He was one of the main worship leaders associated with the Soul Survivor youth organisation.

He has worked with Newfrontiers, Passion Conferences, Hillsong London, is an artist for Survivor Records (sixstepsrecords in the US) and is a member of Compassionart a charity founded by Martin Smith.

He recently appeared with Hillsong London for a song on their latest album Jesus Is; he co-wrote and sang the song "Greatest Gift".

Many Contemporary Christian music (CCM) artists such as Matt Maher, Michael W. Smith, Rebecca St. James, David Crowder Band, and Tree63 have covered a number of Redman's songs. Some of his most popular songs include "Heart Of Worship", "Let Everything That Has Breath", "Once Again", "Undignified", "Better Is One Day", and the 2005 Dove Award-winning "Blessed Be Your Name" (Worship Song of the Year). He regularly works alongside other Christian artists such as Phatfish and Chris Tomlin.

Redman started leading worship at St Andrews, Chorleywood, moving to help start up Soul Survivor alongside Mike Pilavachi and was the worship leader for the Soul Survivor Church in Watford. According to founder Mike Pilavachi, the Soul Survivor festivals (which began in 1993) grew out of worship sessions with him and the then 15-year-old Redman.

In 2002, after a sabbatical in America recording Where Angels Fear To Tread, Redman moved to Brighton to work with Terry Virgo at the Newfrontiers church, CCK. He has been involved in their 'Newday' and 'Together on a Mission' conferences.

In 2004 Redman joined a new church plant, The Point, also in West Sussex, led by Will Kemp.

In 2008 Matt and Beth Redman along with their four children, Maisey, Noah, Rocco and Jackson moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to plant a church with Louie Giglio and Chris Tomlin. Their fifth child, Levi, was born on 18 January 2010. In August 2010 Redman and his family returned to the UK.

On February 18 and 19, 2011, Redman joined Chris Tomlin, Louie Giglio, and Nathan and Christy Nockels at LIFT - A Worship Leader Collective. His new live album, 10,000 Reasons, was recorded during this event.

He has authored and edited multiple books on Christian worship, including The Unquenchable Worshipper and the book Facedown which accompanied the album of the same name. His latest book Mirror Ball relays his thoughts and experiences of 'living boldly and shining brightly for the glory of God'.
