Courageous 2011 Alex Kendrick the actor and the directorCourageous 2011 Alex Kendrick the actor and the director
History ::
The film was directed by Alex Kendrick, who co-wrote its screenplay with his brother Stephen Kendrick. Kendrick also stars in the film, along with Ken Bevel, Kevin Downes, and former running-back Tony Stallings. About half of the cast and crew were volunteers from Sherwood Baptist Church, while the remainder were brought on through invitation-only auditions.

The film was produced with a budget of $2 million, but on its opening weekend it grossed $2 million in pre-sales alone and grossed $9.1 million total for the weekend. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics, but a rare A+ CinemaScore rating from filmgoers.

Plot ::
As the police force of Albany, Georgia, attempts to stop drug smuggling in the city, the sheriff urges his deputies to spend time with their families based on statistics that fatherless children are several times more likely than those with fathers to turn to lives of crime. Among his deputies are Adam Mitchell (Alex Kendrick), Nathan Hayes (Ken Bevel), Shane Fuller (Kevin Downes), and rookie David Thomson (Ben Davies). Mitchell adores his young daughter but is distanced from his teenage son. Hayes never knew his biological father but would risk his life to save his children; however, his teenage daughter Jade (Taylor Hutcherson), resents him because of the strict rules that he has set for her dating life. Fuller is divorced, as were his parents before him, and must share joint custody of his son. The group also befriends Javier Martinez (Robert Amaya), an immigrant struggling to provide for his family, and Mitchell arranges a job for him.

One day, Mitchell's daughter is killed by a drunk driver, devastating Mitchell and his family. After extensive research into the Bible over the next six weeks, Mitchell creates an elaborate "Resolution" to honor God in every aspect of his family; Mitchell, Hayes, Fuller, Thomson, and Martinez take the vow in a formal ceremony by Hayes's adoptive father. Mitchell rebuilds a relationship with his son and attains catharsis by slowly dancing at a site where he had previously refused to dance with his daughter. Hayes mends his relationship with his daughter and presents her with a purity ring that she is to wear until marriage; he also visits the grave of his biological father. Fuller improves his relationship with his son. Thomson, who is revealed to have fathered a child in college and deserted the child after the mother's refusal to have an abortion, contacts the mother and asks to have a relationship with his daughter. Meanwhile, Martinez's employer offers him a promotion on the condition that he reports false information regarding incoming crates. After Martinez refuses to be dishonest, his boss reveals that the request was a test of Martinez's integrity. Martinez is promoted and his financial problems are resolved.

Mitchell and Hayes discover that Fuller has been stealing drugs from the evidence room at the police station to sell on the street. Mitchell is forced to report the corruption, leading to Fuller's arrest and separating Fuller from his son. Mitchell later visits Fuller in jail, where Fuller takes responsibility for his actions and begs Mitchell to act as a father figure to his son.

Hayes and Thomson unknowingly confront the leader of the drug ring they have been eradicating, resulting in a gun battle. As the gang attempts to take a young girl hostage, Mitchell and other officers arrive as additional support. As the girl's father rescues her, Mitchell, Hayes, and Thomson subdue the gang members. One of the gang members is Derrick Freeman (David Howze), a teenager who Hayes had earlier prohibited from dating his daughter; Derrick attributes his decisions to his lack of a family.

At a Father's Day church service, the men present the resolution and Mitchell urges the fathers in the congregation to influence their families for God. Mitchell is shown running in a 5K race with his son and Fuller's son. Hayes is shown reading the Bible with an imprisoned Derrick. Thomson is shown meeting his daughter for the first time. The film ends with a portion of Joshua 24:15: "Choose today who you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

Filming ::
Filming of Courageous began on April 26, 2010 and concluded on June 25, 2010. The majority of the film was shot in Albany and Dougherty County, Georgia area. Some scenes were shot in the Dougherty County Jail. More than 170 media outlets, such as Inside Edition, visited the set. The Duggar family from TLC's 19 Kids and Counting were extras during a father-son 5K race. Jim Bob Duggar and seven of his ten sons joined hundreds of other fathers and sons in filming the scene. Their involvement in the film was shown on 19 Kids and Counting in "Duggars go Hollywood". The Duggar daughters acted as extras in a funeral scene at Sherwood Baptist Church that involved several police officers in uniform.

In order to enhance the quality of the film, the production crew is using a new camera technology, "Red One", by the Red Digital Cinema Camera Company. Kendrick estimated the production budget would exceed $1 million — double that of Fireproof. The final budget has been reported at $2 million.

Rating ::
In December 2010, the Motion Picture Association of America rated the film PG-13 for "some violence and drug content". That rating was surrendered a few days later, but was later reinstated. Courageous is the first film by Sherwood Pictures to receive a PG-13 rating.

Promotion ::
The contemporary Christian band Casting Crowns released a song titled "Courageous" to promote the film with a video featuring scenes from it.

Tony Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning football coach, mentioned the film in an article he wrote about fatherhood for USA Today. He said, "As men, we could all take a lesson from [the fathers in Courageous] and ask ourselves, 'What can I do today to be a more involved dad?'

Desperation Band - Update Live (2011) English Christian Album

Desperation Band - Update Live (2011) English Christian Album
Update: Live is the latest Colorado Christian Live album released by a Worship Ministry of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colarado called as Desperation Band. This album was released on October 25, 2011 and released under the label Integrity Music.

Album Details ::

Album :: Update: Live

Artist :: Desperation Band

Release Date :: October 25, 2011

Genre :: Praise & Worship

Label :: Integrity Music

Location :: Colorado Springs, CO, USA

Desperation Band - Update Live (2011) biography and history
Biography ::
Led by Jon Egan, the Desperation Band was birthed out of the student ministries of New Life Church in Colorado Springs. They are recording artist with a great family of worshipers from Integrity Music based out of Colorado Springs, CO. They continue to lead worship at New Life Church and annual Desperation Conferences.

The Desperation Band has recorded five albums for Integrity music, including t...he critically acclaimed "Everyone Overcome", and their very first studio worship record “Light Up The World”, which was Jon Egan’s first shot at producing! In addition to albums, the band released the Everyone Overcome DVD, produced by Jon Egan, Andy Catarisano, and Jared Newman. They have also been featured on two New Life Church recordings, 2006's "My Savior Lives", and 2008’s “Counting on God”. Look to the springs of 2011 for New Life’s next worship album “Our Freedom” also featuring Jon and the Desperation Band.

Dband albums feature "high-energy, passionate new worship songs that convey a raw hunger for God." Desperation Band was originally formed in 2001, when New Life youth pastor David Perkins launched a youth movement for local churches called Desperation. They hold multiple Desperation Conferences every summer in Colorado Springs. The Conferences draw thousands of high school and college students who are desperate for the things of God. The emphasis of the conference is wrapped up in “the vow,” a commitment to PASSION, INTERCESSION, CONSECRATION, AND MISSION. Over 30,000 young people have signed the vow and the stories continue to pour in about the difference they are making.

Made up of several committed musicians, the band also travels to conferences, churches, and concerts throughout the country. Desperation is best known for writing songs like "Rescue", "I Am Free", “My Savior Lives”, “You Hold It All’, “Yahweh”, “Overcome”, and more. Several of these songs have been covered by mainstream Christian bands and many songs are sung in churches throughout America and around the world.

The Dband has found great purpose in “Heartwork”, a ministry to the orphans of the world that started with New Life’s student ministry. In an effort to build one orphan home, and with the help of a spiritual dad in the youth group, the student ministry raised enough funds to build four orphan homes! Then in an act of spontaneity, the desperation conferences jumped in and raised money for 3 more orphan homes! This movement has turned the young people involved upside down for the kingdom. The Desperation Band has been right in the middle of it. It’s a God thing. Starting June of 2010 at the Desperation Conference, Heartwork and the Desperation Band launched “the 1k Campaign”…1,000 orphan projects built by 1,000 student ministries in 1,000 days. Student groups all over the country can log on to www.heartwork.tv and sign on to an orphan care project. The clock is ticking. The needs are waiting to be met.

The band has always been more of a ministry than a band. Jon and the guys believe that true change comes when people lay aside their agenda’s to encounter the true and living God. They are passionate about the presence of God and they don’t hide it. They are well aware that music will never impact souls…only the power of God. They don’t perform or entertain. They want to join with real people to worship a real God. The Desperation Band exists to advance His Kingdom and to pray as Jesus told us… “your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
“The Desperation Band has always been and always will be about the presence of God. We exist to bring Him glory and reveal His truth to a broken world. If we know who His is, we know who we are. If we know who we are, we can live as God meant us to live. Let our worship meet his heart. Let His heart speak his purposes. Let us freely give our lives away to see his purposes known. It’s not a youth movement. It’s not a church movement. It’s a people movement. All are welcome!”
-Jon Egan, Desperation Band

Location :: Nashville, TN, USA

Amanda Stott - Place to Start Again 2011 Biography and historyAmanda Stott - Place to Start Again 2011 Biography and history
Biography ::
Six years after her previous release, Amanda Stott is emerging with a new album and a fresh focus with "Place to Start Again." Growing up on her family’s farm in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, Amanda was constantly surrounded by the sounds of music. She grew up singing in her local church, and is excited to have her new project “Place to Start Again” reflect the faith that has inspired her since she was a young child. “My faith is the reason I sing and it’s exciting that God has opened the doors for me to write and perform music that conveys my heart.” After a successful country self-titled debut release in 2000 on Warner Music Canada, followed by her sophomore pop release “Chasing the Sky” in 2005 on EMI Music Canada, Amanda has taken creative control with this new project and is releasing it independently.

The journey for this album began when Amanda stepped out in faith and moved to Nashville, TN, where she had the opportunity to work with many talented and gifted songwriters within the music industry. She has co-written all 8 songs on this latest release, working with fellow songwriters, Brian Hitt, Phillip LaRue, Dustin Burnett, Shelly Johnson and LA based songwriters Billy Pace and Lindy Robbins. "I have been so blessed to be able to learn from and work with such gifted people."

Amanda has drawn inspiration for her songs from her own life experiences. From the loneliness of moving 27 hours from family and friends, to experiencing God's faithfulness after losing most of her belongings in an apartment fire, to knowing and discovering God’s unconditional peace and rest. The groundwork for “Place to Start Again” was Amanda’s voice, piano and strings. “I have always loved the powerful combination of piano and strings and really wanted that to be the musical foundation for this album”.

Amanda worked with Nashville based producer, Brian Hitt (High Flight Society, David Doss Band, Dub Pierce). “I really felt like Brian embraced this album and captured the vision I had for it like it was his own…we had an incredible time recording this project.” Along with touring Canada extensively in the last 10 years, Amanda has also had the opportunity of lending her voice to 3 oversees tours performing for Canadian Troops. “I count it an amazing privilege to entertain the people who are fighting and sacrificing daily for our freedom."

In the spring of 2006, Amanda joined the Cirque Du Soleil show “Delirium” as a singer on their North American tour. “It was so exciting every night to be able to perform in such a multifaceted production with inspiring visuals, musicians, singers, dancers, and acrobats.” After 13 months of being on the road with “Delirium”, Amanda felt God leading her and opening the door for her to move to Nashville and further pursue her solo career….” Place to Start Again” is what came out of that move. “My prayer is that God may use this music to bring a message of hope and touch the listener’s heart."

Biography ::
*muzeONE of Scribbling Idiots. Delivering real life Hip-Hop since 1992.*

This San Diego native emcee has been perfecting the art of lyricism for over 17 years. For muzeONE, it was his father's love for funk, soul and r&b that sparked a connection to the early '90s, sample-laden style of Hip Hop. This attachment translated in to a love for the art of rhyme and a desire to participate in all aspect...s of Hip-Hop culture.
After a turbulent adolescence, muzeONE found a greater purpose for his music, inspired by the truth of the Bible. His new found faith created a shift in the message behind his lyrics, from self-praising rhetoric to words of hope, love, intelligence and beauty.
Since then, muzeONE has released several musical projects, such as the 2005 release "TruthBeautyGoodness" (as 1/2 of the group Redeemed Thought), The Proposal EP, and his latest release, "The Backburner EP", available now on iTunes. He has gain notoriety across the country as a skilled emcee, performer, public speaker and producer (releasing "The instruMENTAL Mixtape" vols. 1 & 2, a beat collection, also available on iTunes).
Now residing back in the WEST COAST (San Diego), after an 8 year stay in Philadelphia, PA, muzeONE lives with his wife and daughter, who have become a new source of creative inspiration for his music. He is currently working on his first full-length solo album entitled, "The Cold War", to be released on Illect Recordings early 2011. With his recent induction into the super-crew of talented emcees known as Scribbling Idiots, muzeONE is set to continue delivering his music and message to the world, with hopes of leaving a legacy of art that will be appreciated forever.

Biography ::
“All the words, they are my fingers on a face, Oh, the words, looking for patterns in the shapes
You’re so good to be a witness to my sounds, Trying to frame the clouds…”

... Hello, friends, listeners, passers-by…THANKS for taking the time to stop by. Whether you’re here because of one particular song or because someone sent you, or because you are a long-time listener, thank you. Without you, the songs would be like trees falling in an empty wood…it happened, but no one was there to say so.

For me, music was the first thing in life I just felt great doing. Later, when I discovered songwriting in high school, it was—admittedly--about self-expression. Cheap therapy. Now, it's many things. Fun. Expression…yes, there is me in there. But more to the point—I hope—my heart is in the attempt to articulate the elusive things of life. Common things. Extraordinary experiences. What we can touch and what we can only wonder about. Questions. I have so many questions.

I have wondered at times what room there is for me in the village of musicians…surely, everything that needs to be said has already been written and sung. Surely, others with greater technical skills are out there doing it. But the past few years have taught me that all of that really doesn’t matter, because we all really need each other to continue telling the stories and speaking truth from our unique vantage points.

There is only one me.
And only one you.

And you and I need each other to write and sing and paint and speak and build and…
So I am so happy you’re here, and do hope you’ll come often and stay awhile...

Extended Bio (for the super curious):
Christa wrote her first full-length song at the age of 15, but showed her interest in music when she was about one year old when she hummed the alphabet song in pretty good tune. Which pleased her mother very much. A few years ago she came across her very first recording: a cassette tape with her seven-year-old voice creating melody lines for nursery rhymes she’d found on the pages of a Mother Goose book. Like the GarageBand recordings she puts together today, they were simply produced but conveyed the essence of an artistic spirit, expressing life in lyrics and melody.

Few things are more satisfying to Christa than sifting words into phrases and pairing them with music so that ideas and emotions become common places among listeners. After years of playing piano and singing in church and school music programs, she finally attempted to write her own music and was thrilled to discover a creative outlet that was truly compelling for her. Her method was untrained and totally her own when she arrived at Anderson University, Indiana, in the fall of 1991, where she took English literature and music classes, including Gloria Gaither’s songwriting course, which contributed to a more solid understanding of the writing process.

Christa Wells & Nicole Witt - Image of God 2011 hq wallpaper buy album hereChrista Wells & Nicole Witt - Image of God 2011 hq wallpaper buy album here
Throughout those years, Christa wrote her own music while singing back-up for others and performing other writers’ music in a band called Same Rain, which she and some college friends had formed together. She then married fellow Anderson alum Toby Wells and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, eventually leaving Same Rain and heading east to Raleigh, North Carolina. But under the influence of gifted writers such as Natalie Merchant, Over the Rhine, Patty Griffin, and Sheryl Crow, she was unable to resist the pull of her grandmother’s old piano in the living room and continued to build her own catalog of original songs.

In the fall of 1999, a conversation with a successful songwriter in Nashville led her to the decision to focus on songwriting rather than performance and make that her vocational aim. She began co-writing with her sister, Mandy Rogers, and with Tiffany Arbuckle Lee (Plumb), hoping to expand her skills and find a publisher who would see the potential in her songs and represent her in the industry. Providentially, in autumn 2001, her friend Jeremy Lee of FlatRock Management, began to talk with her about his vision for some of her songs. Jeremy was ready to champion her songs within the Nashville music community, despite Christa’s geographical distance.

With Tiffany Arbuckle Lee (Plumb), Christa co-wrote two songs ("Real" and "Go") for Plumb’s album, Beautiful Lumps of Coal, as well as “Day by Day” which was a number one single released by Point of Grace on their album “24.” “Real” was the first single released from Plumb’s album. In 2006, Christa was recognized for her song “Held,” released by Natalie Grant on her “Awakening” album, and named Songwriter of the Year by the Gospel Music Association. Other songs include “Me” co-written with Plumb for her lullabies album, “Bring It All Together,” co-written with writer/producer Shaun Shankel and “Our Hope Endures,” co-written and recorded by Natalie Grant (an upcoming single from the album Relentless).

In addition to writing for signed artists, Christa and her sister, Mandy Rogers, independently released a full-length album of original music in 2006 entitled “A Rogers/Wells Project: so much to tell you.” The project, which includes Christa’s recorded version of “Held,” has opened doors for the sisters to perform their own music and share the stories behind the songs. In the last two years, they have performed together and individually in several states, as well as other venues such as Studio B television broadcast and a sold-out round at the infamous Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee.

In 2007, Christa was involved with an effort to raise funds to benefit military families through AFF (Armed Forces Foundation). Her song “Before the Tree Comes Down”, a tender tribute to our servicemen and women and their families, spawned the idea for Hope Christmas Ball in Raleigh, North Carolina, and to contribute to the cause, Christa produced a Christmas EP to be given to donors of the event. Lisa McClowry, Chicago-based singer and songwriter, also recorded “Before the Tree Comes Down” and released it worldwide online, with proceeds donated to AFF.

At this time, Christa lives with her family in North Carolina, writing and sharing her music locally, as well as traveling to Nashville periodically to write and record. She is also committed to ongoing work with Masterpiece Ministries based out of Lebanon, Tennessee--whose mission is to provide summer camps for young artists, encouraging them toward excellence and Christ-centered living. In January 2009, Christa will record her first solo project, which will feature collaborative performances with other talented Nashville artists.

Her favorite color is gold, her favorite food is Thai, and she is usually reading four books at a time.

History ::
Petra is a music group regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres. Formed in 1972, the band took its name from the Greek word for "rock". Though formally disbanding in 2006, incarnations of Petra have played reunion shows in the years since and released an album in November 2010.

With a style initially similar to The Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Petra's sound evolved into a more energetic, driving rock sound in the early 1980s akin to Foreigner, Styx and Journey. Throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s, Petra was undoubtedly the world's most popular Christian rock band, with each of its albums during that period selling hundreds of thousands of copies while the band sold out arenas and regularly placed songs at the top of Christian radio charts. With its lyrics, music and style, Petra influenced numerous other artists at a time when Christian rock experienced strong opposition from many conservative pastors and churches.

In more than three decades, the band experienced numerous lineup changes yet released 20 studio albums, as well as three Spanish-language and two live albums, selling nearly 10 million copies while being nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, winning four, and winning 10 Dove Awards. Its biggest hit, "The Coloring Song", reached the top position on three Christian radio charts simultaneously, and at its peak, the band's tours rivaled Amy Grant's in popularity among Christian audiences. Petra was the first rock band inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the first Christian band whose memorabilia was included in the Hard Rock Cafe restaurant chain.

The band announced its retirement in 2005, launching a farewell tour that was recorded for release on CD and DVD. Petra's 33-year career ended with a performance in the early hours of January 1, 2006. Band members subsequently reunited for concerts in 2007 and 2010. In November 2010, a resurrected form of the band's mid-1980s lineup, using the name Classic Petra, released a CD titled Back to the Rock featuring new material and re-recordings of hits from that era. The band released a companion live CD and DVD in 2011.

Exodus Movement - From The Depths 2011 Biography and HistoryExodus Movement - From The Depths 2011 Biography and History
History ::
The Exodus Movement is an authentic, holy hip-hop group that is determined to make a positive impact for the kingdom of God. Hailing from the streets of Oklahoma City, this group is leading people out of bondage and into the freedom of God’s Word through Holy Hip Hop.

Throughout their ten years of ministry, Exodus Movement has released five albums: Let My People Go, 2002; Street Testaments: Compil...ation Album, 2004; Broken Tablets, 2005; Vocab: The Final Chapter, 2006; and Broken Tablets: The Rebirth, 2009. Songs such as “Boyz in Da Hood,” “Everybody Needs Jesus,” and “All My Life,” have generated buzz and acclaim all over the world. “All My Life,” which encourages listeners to move past negative labels spoken over them and move into God’s purpose, is currently in rotation on the Gospel Music Channel along with “Front Line” and “Hip Hop.” A highly anticipated 6th album; “reDEFINITION” will be released March 1st, 2011.

A divine connection brought the group members together in 2000. They met at an after party after a Gospel Gangstaz concert. Lapo and HD were speaking to Vocab & Apocalyptic in a parking lot and mentioned that they rapped together. Vocab’s response was, “we rap too.” After exchanging information in the parking lot, a few weeks later Exodus was born. Kadence came on board later after being asked to be the group’s producer.

Exodus soon began rapping about their real life experiences, such as growing up on the streets, living in fatherless homes, conquering materialism, and winning souls. The group has performed before thousands at venues such as the Holy Hip Hop Awards, The Oklahoma City Arts Festival, People’s Church, Oklahoma City, OK; fastest-growing church in 2010, Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois; 3rd largest church in America, Life Church, NW OKC, OK and The Dream Center in Peoria, Illinois. Exodus has collaborated with gospel artists such as Cam, Sean Johnson, Lil Raskull aka RAS, and Dre Murray. They have shared the same stage with artists: Lecrae, KJ-52, Deepspace5, GRITS, Out of Eden, Holy South, Cam, R&B Singer Houston, Jabee, LA Symphony, NuWine, Lil Raskull, 4th Soil, Secta 7, Stikk, John Reuben, Pettidee, Polo, and Nitro. Artists that have influenced the musical sound of Exodus Movement include, Prime Minister, D.C.P., NuWine, Lil Raskull aka RAS, L.G. Wise, Antonious, and many more artists.

The group suffered a crushing blow when beloved member, Vocab, passed away from cancer in 2006. Vocab’s death caused the group to take a year hiatus, which drew the group closer together. The group changed its name to Exodus Movement after receiving inspiring words about the group’s potential from Vocab before he passed away.

The talent and hard work of Exodus Movement has not gone unrecognized. One of the group members, Kadence, was nominated for a Dove Award for producing a beat on the song, “Go Hard” by Lecrae in 2009. Exodus Movement was nominated for the 2010 En Sound Music Award, which is presented by DaSouth.com.

Neo-Soul Gospel Artist, Sean C. Johnson, summed up Exodus Movement’s purpose best when he said, “Exodus is a group that, true to its name, is leading a departure from the normal approach to ministry. Without compromise, they take God’s word and make it applicable to a generation that’s in dire need of saving.”
