Thousand Foot Krutch - Oxygen Inhale 2014 Biography and History
History ::
Thousand Foot Krutch is a Canadian Christian rock band formed in 1997. They have released five major studio albums: Set It Off (2001), Phenomenon (2003), The Art of Breaking (2005), The Flame In All of Us (2007), and Welcome to the Masquerade (2009). Singer Trevor McNevan and drummer Steve Augustine are also members of their own side project band called FM Static and Joel Bruyere started his own solo project called The Drawing Room in 2009. The band has sold over a half a million albums as of 2010.

Trevor McNevan began the band in Peterborough, Ontario, a city northeast of Toronto, where he went to high school. Joel Bruyere, born in Brantford, Ontario, was McNevan's childhood friend who had moved away but remained in contact with him. Drummer Steve Augustine is from Hamilton, Ontario. Trevor's first band was Oddball, which featured Dave Smith on guitar, Tim Baxter on bass and Trevor's good friend, Three Days Grace's Neil Sanderson, on drums. Oddball recorded only one album, Shutterbug, which was released in 1995. McNevan is the founding member of TFK (along with original guitarist Dave Smith), formed in 1997 in Peterborough, Ontario. McNevan came up with TFK's name "symbolizing the point in our lives that we realize we can't make it on our own strength". He has written and released 6 albums with Thousand Foot Krutch to date and another three with his side project FM Static.

TFK has worked with Aaron Sprinkle (Mae/Anberlin/MxPx), Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace/Billy Talent/Thornley), Arnold Lanni (Our Lady Peace/Finger Eleven/Simple Plan), and Ken Andrews (Beck/Chris Cornell/Pete Yorn/Tenacious D) on their last 3 Tooth and Nail-released records.

The-Almost--Fear-Inside-Our-Bones-2013-Biography-and-History
Biography ::
It’s all too easy to make an album in this day and age. You rent out a studio, record one part, and then cut and paste it across the whole record. That happens partly because of fear. Putting your soul on tape is a scary thing. THE ALMOSTovercame that fear and did something completely different for not only themselves but modern rock as a whole. They holed up in a small room in Nashville’s Omni Studios for only five days and played every note of their third full-length album, FEAR INSIDE OF OUR BONES (Tooth & Nail/EMI/Universal), together in unison.
Now, there’s an overwhelming thunder on the horizon. It’s the sound of a band realizing its potential. It’s the sound of life. It’s the sound of THE ALMOST.
The group made the decision to record the album in the same room completely live, and the album was born in their collective blood, sweat, and tears.“It wasn’t a piecemeal process as the majority of modern records are,” explains lead vocalist, lyricist and guitarist AARON GILLESPIE.With a little help from producer Marshall Altman (Tom Morello, Ingrid Michaelson, William Fitzsimmons), the music was made live over the course of merely five days. “It’s something none of us have ever done and with the time crunch, we were surprised how tight of a live band we’ve finally become.Thematically, we bounced the entire record off using anxiety as our backboard.
THE ALMOSThave come a long way since the release of their 2007 debutSouthern Weather(Tooth & Nail/Virgin) which hit the Billboard Top 200 chart at #39 with 29,000 copies sold in its first week and spawned their first single “Say This Sooner” which hit Top Ten at Alternative Radio. In the aftermath, the current lineup–AARON GILLESPIE(lead vocalist, lyricist and guitarist), JAY VILARDI [guitars], DUSTY REDMON[guitars], JON THOMPSON [bass], and JOE MUSTEN [drums]—had solidified, and they played to rabid crowds around the world. In 2009, the group delivered Monster, Monster which Alternative Press hailed “a time-release painkiller: Once the emotionally charged rock gets into your system, its’ good for a long-lasting buzz” (November 2009). After touring with Paramore, The Starting Line, The Used and a trek on the Vans Warped Tour the acclaimed group performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!and have gone on to sell over 300,000 albums.
“We’ve always been polished in the studio,” says Vilardi. “We never quite got the live energy down. We became a great live unit on the Monster, Monster cycle because we were busier than we’d ever been. That played into the vibe of this record. On stage, Aaron is a fireball of energyWe share anxiety. We’re anxious little dudes, and you can hear that in the record because it’s live.”
“That’s why it’s got a gritty, dirty vibe,” Gillespie goes on. “We went for it. We did Monster, Monster the traditional way. We spent a ton of money on a massive studio and all of these things we didn’t need. It was amazing doing everything live. I’ll do records like this for the rest of my life. We wanted to be on a time crunch so we only booked the studio for five days.”
In those five days, the musicians tapped into elegantly visceral rock energy. Album opener “Ghost” echoes with unbridled blues intensity before converging on a divinely heavy refrain.
“The broken guitar sound at the beginning—the two notes that start our record—are my two favorite notes I’ve ever played,” Vilardi laughs. “It’s the perfect starting point.
About the lyrics, Gillespie reveals, “You have to test yourself. So often, we take things that we see and hear at face value. With yourself, you can’t do that. You’ve got to test everything. You can’t trust yourself until you’ve tested yourself. You’ve got to run your thinking through the lens.”
Meanwhile, the first single “I’m Down” steams ahead like a swaggering Southern freight train before the singer carries a soulful chorus proclaiming, “Don’t count me out.”
“Musically, it’s one of the rawest songs,” Gillespie explains. “It’s about relationships. For me, I felt like I failed someone and I was wondering if I could even give anything else. In a relationship, you get to that point where you wonder if you’ve failed so bad the other person will even accept anything else from you. You have to show the change in your heart and life for it to work.”
Vilardi continues, “It’s indicative of where we come from. This is a rock ‘n’ roll band, and people will hear that.”
Across the entire album, Gillespie continues to wear his heart on his sleeve. He doesn’t hold anything back within the lyrics or music. ”I want to make music that I believe in,” he proclaims. “I want people to trust that I’m being honest. I’m not so concerned about moving units or anything like that. It’s about being honest with people. I want everyone to realize this is real. This is my life and reality.”
“First and foremost, we have to like what we’re doing,” adds Vilardi. ”That’s such a crucial component of all of this. We need to make it as meaningful and great as we can. We need to completely believe in what we do, and that’s the case with this album.”
Amidst all of the thundering rhythms and massive riffs, The Almost’s honesty resounds the loudest. “There’s hope,” Gillespie concludes. “People are free to feel the way they feel and go through what they’re going through. We’re free to hurt. We’re free to live. I think music is the best vehicle to spread that. Music is the great communicator. This is my soundtrack, heartbeat, and who I want to be. I hope everyone feels like this record belongs to them.”

Seventh Day Slumber - Love & Worship 2013 Biography and History
Biography ::
Seventh Day Slumber is a Christian rock band from Dallas, Texas formed in 1996. They were an independent band for five years. until signed to Tooth and Nail Records in 2007. They are best known for their songs "Oceans from the Rain" and "Surrender". "Oceans from the Rain" was the 14th most played song on Christian CHR radio in 2006 according to the Weekend 22. "Surrender" placed on the X 2009 Christian rock hits compilation.

Lead vocalist Joseph Rojas's father left him and his mother at the age of 3, Rojas went into a deep state of depression and started to become addicted to crack, cocaine, and other drugs. He was soon selling drugs himself on the streets and taking part in other various felonies and crimes. He was admitted to various rehab centers and hospitals, but when all of them failed he gave up, quitting all together. Rojas was planning to commit suicide and overdose on cocaine to stop his heart, but he wasn't expecting his mother to be the one to find him. He was rescued by paramedics and was later quoted as saying that the flashing lights from the ambulance made him truly see God, and inspired him to change his ways. He started slowing cutting back on his drugs and drinking, and eventually was able to quit them all together through the help of family, rehabs, and prayer. Once he was clean, he decided to go to college, which is where he found his passion for music and where he met some of his current band members. The reason why he wanted to write music was because, "I wanted to give something back to God after all he's done for me".

Love and Death - Between Here and Lost 2013 Biography and history
Biography ::

Former Korn guitarist Brian Head Welch marks a new beginning with the announcement that his band will now go by the name Love & Death. “I put this band together in 2009” states Welch. “Since then, we've experienced some very intense highs and lows. Michael Valentine, Dan Johnson, JR Bareis and myself have toured around the world playing a lot of killer shows, but we've also had some heart shattering difficulties along the way as well. To us, the name "Love and Death" symbolizes everything we've been through as a band over the last few years. We love this band so much and we'll go through hell to connect with our fans. We've proven that to ourselves over and over again.”

With Love & Death, the music now lives under it’s own banner. “Many people have confused my speaking dates and our band dates because they were both being booked as Brian Head Welch” says Welch. “I have wanted to go to a band name for branding my music for a few years. It has been an ongoing discussion with my management, but we were just starting to tour and I was in the middle of supporting my third book and it seemed like a bad time to switch brands. Now with the new music coming out, its time to really separate the things I do. I want the music to be about music. I will still be doing public speaking under Brian Head Welch. I am happy that all the confusion will be over.”

Love & Death formed when Welch decided to have band try outs on YouTube in 2009. “I picked the guys and then had a jam session in Phoenix” says Welch. “Over the last couple of years, there have been a few line up changes as we went through normal growing pains. The current band has been together and touring for a while now and they are a big part of the new music and the future of this new brand.”

The band’s latest single “Paralyzed” is already #5 on the BDS rock chart (the single was released under the name Brian Head Welch). “Paralyzed” was produced by Jason Rauch (Red, Breaking Benjamin) and mixed by Lee Bridges (Third Day, Newsboys). “‘Paralyzed’ was one of the first songs co-written with Producer Jason Rauch” states Welch. “He came to me with the idea and we both dove into it until it was all there. Jason is really helping me get back to crushing riffs. My first solo CD was an experimental album so the riffs were definitely lacking. Today's a new day and I'm excited about the future. ‘Paralyzed’ is only a taste of what's to come.”

Blessed By A Broken Heart - Feel The Power 2012 biography and historyBlessed By A Broken Heart - Feel The Power 2012 biography and history
Biography ::
Change can be a great thing, but it doesn’t always happen overnight. For some bands, the process can take the better part of a decade, between locking in the right lineup, finding the ideal sound and forging a unified creative vision. After eight years as a band, heavy metal trailblazers Blessed By A Broken Heart are finally there, and are embracing the changes as yet another chapter in their alre...ady distinguished career. And the best is yet to come.

After spending the last three years writing their third full-length release, Blessed are ready to get loud and make some noise, featuring new members, a retooled aesthetic and a sharply honed focus on monster hooks, sure to have fans everywhere banging their heads and hoisting lighters and phones high up into the air. One thing is clear: Blessed have come to bring the rock.

“We've been writing this record for the last three years, kind of like a Def Leppard thing. You can't rush greatness,” says drummer Slater. “We've grown—We're still a fun, carefree band with songs about partying and having a good time and everything rock 'n' roll's all about—but we've got some songs that are more serious, and a little more personal. We've all grown as musicians, too; it's more technical and a lot more melodic, yet still heavy.”

Blessed By A Broken Heart began in 2003 in Montreal, Canada after being founded by bassist Tyler Hoare, and the band issued its first recording—All Is Fair In Love And War—just a year later, in 2004. Early tours included a notable run with punk-core sensations A Day To Remember, who were on the road for the first time. Blessed continued to evolve over the years, with guitarist Shred Sean joining the ranks in 2005 and vocalist Tony Gambino signing on in 2007, leading to the band’s 2008 release, Pedal To The Metal, on Century Media Records. In those five years since their inception Blessed toured incessantly, including playing jam-packed houses in the U.S., U.K., Japan mainland Europe and Australia, performing alongside bands such as Judas Priest, Bring Me The Horizon, Steel Panther, Megadeth and Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster. In 2009 Blessed parted ways with Century Media Records, paving the way for their current collaboration with Tooth & Nail Records.

Over the course of the last eight years, Blessed has experienced a near constant evolution, including various lineup changes, and a stylistic progression away from pure metalcore in favor of more traditional metal and hard rock. One listen to the new album and it’s apparent that Blessed are no longer the same band that recorded All Is Fair, and if you ask the members, that’s their saving grace. Staying ahead of the curve and distancing themselves from the pack is the key to longevity, and the reason the new album will resonate with even the most veteran headbangers.

“We've definitely matured as a band. We really wrote this album collectively, and it just naturally had this progression of where we all wanted to go,” says vocalist Tony Gambino. “It naturally went in this direction. I think all of us are over the hardcore/metalcore stuff; we were one of the first bands that were successful doing that back in 2003. Now, there are millions of bands trying to be like that, and we want nothing to do with it. We're not in this to follow the trends—we're in it to do what we love.”

And indeed, this latest record is not your typical modern metal album, by any stretch. Between its anthemic choruses, rich keyboards and scorching guitar licks, the album evokes the feel of a classic ’80s metal album a la Mötley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses, yet moves beyond sheer nostalgia into true creative territory. Blessed are quick to point out that the genre is something the band eats, sleeps and breathes, and this time around they’re playing for keeps, channeling their passion into a serious, yet still fun, compendium of songs that keep the hair metal torch burning, sans irony, here in 2011.

“The whole band is still obsessed with the ’80s, and that's bled into our lifestyles. It's not just when we're on tour: We all kind of dress ’80s; we still have mullets. It's become part of our lives,” says Gambino. “On the last album, we used more of the cheesy side of the ’80s, and this album we used a little more of the mature side. It's a little less fluff, a lot less cheese, a little more serious. We’ve kind of gone a little more classic metal and heavy rock ‘n’ roll. It's real organic how it all came together.”

Another stylistic departure was made with the band’s choice of producer. Instead of tapping the usual suspects for a metal record, Blessed opted to work with pop-punk/rock veteran James Paul Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, New Found Glory, Paramore) at his South Florida HQ. It proved to be a sound move, between Wisner’s skills at enhancing Blessed’s melodic leanings and his abilities as an engineer, which resulted in what’s arguably the band’s best sounding recording to date.

“We scoped out a lot of producers, but because this record was a lot more commercial-savvy, we wanted to go with someone who wasn't just some metal guy,” says Slater. “We wanted to go with someone who had a touch with good songwriting, good substance to songs, and someone who has a good background working with people who have written really catchy songs. More than just producing, he brought his engineering skills, too, and he can get a really good, clean sound. I think that was the best thing he brought to the table: being able to take our style and make it sound sonically in the right place.”

Beyond just the authenticity of its tone, Blessed’s latest effort tracks pulse with a prevalent heartbeat that stems from the songs being a true labor of love; writing them was very much a hands-on process that the band spearheaded through their own initiative. Over the last few years, Blessed have been writing literally everywhere, using Slater’s mobile recording rig, known as “The Cave,” to document the sessions. Besides the obvious productivity advantage of such a setup, the fact that FEEL THE POWER was written in a variety of locations adds to the album’s diversity, taking on different tones and feels based on the environment where inspiration first struck.

“Wherever I'm at we'll set up this little recording rig and write, and over the last three years, we've been in so many different places. It's kind of funny, because songs were written in different parts of the world, and those songs all have different vibes,” explains Slater. “The Seattle songs are darker, thanks to all the rain. [laughs] The New York ones are the hardest rocking. The Florida ones are all about partying on the beach.”

On the new album Blessed have also continued their topical discussions of faith and spirituality, combined with the reality of everyday life and touring, but have taken a personal, inordinately subtle approach to such themes, which is a rarity these days, when in contrast so many bands are aggressively spreading the word. “We just wrote what we were feeling at the time. We're not one of those bands to try to shove our views down people's throats,” explains Slater. “We just want to sing about what's on our mind, whether it's love or a relationship with a girl, or our faith, or partying all night on the beach. We do it all. We're not some church kids who are trying to pose to be a heavy rock band.”

So after three long years that saw significant lineup changes, vast musical growth and countless road miles, Blessed are finally armed with a bold new record, and are ready to bring their unique brand of metal to the masses; the only question is whether the world is ready. Rocking ultra-hard amid a scene that’s become reliant on copycats, clichés and trends, the Blessed are taking the genre back to its roots, and doing everything in their power to destroy stereo speakers across the globe.

“The whole vibe of this record is to forget all the bull crap; no matter what the song's about, simply FEEL THE POWER,” says Gambino. “There's so much watered down music in the scene, and we're kind of just trying to bring back the real roots of rock ‘n’ roll. At the end of the day, we're trying to rock as hard as possible.”
