We Shot the Moon - Love On 2013 Biography and History
Biography ::
We Shot the Moon, formerly known as The Honor Roll, is a band from San Diego, California featuring Jonathan Jones the singer of Waking Ashland, and originally, Dan Koch, and Joe Greenetz both from the band Sherwood.

The band formed as The Honor Roll when Jonathan Jones' band, Waking Ashland, broke up. On July 21, 2007, the band put up 4 demos on their MySpace page. In August 2007 the group changed its name to We Shot the Moon.

Their first ever show as a band was a benefit concert called Water For Choche, which helped bring water to people in Choche, Ethiopia. It was held on September 15, 2007 at Point Loma Nazarene University in southern California. They have released 3 full length albums and have completed 10+ national tours since their formation in 2007. Jonathan Jones is the only consistent member of the group since the original line up.

They entered the studio on August 22, 2007, to record a full-length album. The title of the LP is Fear And Love. We Shot the Moon embarked on its first U.S. Tour in September 2007 with an original lineup of Jonathan Jones, Trevor Faris, Paul Wheatley, Matthew J Doughty, and Nathan Scott. By late November, the band was back in Southern California, but it wasn't long before the band toured Japan. Waking Ashland had broken in Japan, and the We Shot the Moon album was originally to be released there as a posthumous Waking Ashland B-sides collection before the group decided to make it their primary project.

Jason De La Torre became an official guitarist in the band in July 2008 along with Adam Lovell on bass guitar.

In August 2008, it was announced that original lead guitarist Paul Wheatley had left the band for personal reasons. His role on the current tour will be temporarily filled by Nate Miller.

We Shot the Moon entered the studio again in January 2009 to begin work on their second LP. The album will be produced by Mike Green (Waking Ashland, The Matches, Paramore). Though the group had a Japanese label contract, they had left The Militia Group early in 2009 and nearly self-released their sophomore full-length domestically after finding little interest from American record labels. The band eventually signed with Minneapolis, Minnesota based indie label Afternoon Records in June 2009 and released their second full-length album, "A Silver Lining," on October 13, 2009.

In April 2011, the singer made a Twitter post about a new We Shot The Moon EP, stating it would be recorded in the summer of 2011. In January 2012 We Shot The Moon released the "We Are All Odd" EP of B-Sides. They also announced plans to release their third full length album titled "Love And Fear" in 2012.

In the summer of 2011, drummer Ben Hilzinger, bassist Andy Bruno, and Michael Grimm joined Jonathan Jones in We Shot The Moon. We Shot The Moon has been featured on The Real World, The Hills, ESPN's Sportscenter as well as numerous other programs on ABC, MTV, VH1 and Fox.

In November 2012, it was announced that original lead guitarist, Paul Wheatley has rejoined forces with Jonathan Jones again and will be handling all of the guitar work on the next We Shot The Moon album. Paul Wheatley and Jonathan Jones have not played music together since 2010. On the official We Shot The Moon YouTube channel Jones quotes, "It's been incredible playing music with Paul again. Even after 2 years it seems like we haven't even missed a beat. These new We Shot The Moon songs are sounding the best that I've ever heard We Shot The Moon songs sound. I'm excited that we have teamed up for this new album, the process has begun." The release of the new EP/Album is scheduled for early 2013.

Jars of Clay - Under the Weather 2013 Biography and History
Biography ::
Jars of Clay, historically, has been this kind of compact creative environment; we’re known for doing everything from the songwriting to the producing to the artwork,” says guitarist Matt Odmark. “This was a push in a totally different direction. We brought people in on the songwriting side of things, and we knew in the beginning that we wanted as many voices as possible in the record.

“We wanted to make a record about community, and we wanted the recording process to be community. We wanted it to be an expression of what it was trying to articulate from a concept standpoint,” Odmark continues. “It wasn’t going to work any other way, and it didn’t make sense to us to write a record about community that was just us talking to one another.”

So the call went out to the creative community Jars has long been part of, but hadn’t felt led to truly tap into previously. Songwriters they respect, like Laura Story, Thad Cockrell and Phillip LaRue, injected new lifeblood into songs that had been percolating for more than a year, and long-established, readily recognizable voices, like those of Mac Powell, Amy Grant, Brandon Heath, Leigh Nash, TobyMac and more, lent timbre and texture to this new set of Jars of Clay songs.

And yet, the motivation was there to make them more than just a set of Jars of Clay songs.
“We wanted the songs to sound like a group of people more than ‘there’s Toby, there’s Leigh, there’s Mac,’ so we brought in a choir,” says keyboardist Charlie Lowell. “Steve did a great job of rallying a bunch of independent musicians from around the Nashville area,” including Katie Herzig, Andy and Jill Gullahorn, Sarah Masen Dark, Julie Lee, Trent Dabbs and Kate York.

“I should really be in A&R,” interjects guitarist Stephen Mason.
“He directed the choir, as well, so not only did he get ’em in the room, he told ’em what to do,” Lowell continues. “I should really be a V.P.,” Mason laughingly concludes, to the amusement of his bandmates.

“It’s out of my hands, it was from the start…”
Another of the challenges of trusting this new method of creating was not only asking others into the The Shelter process, but also convincing them to bring their own imprint into the project.

“One of the great parts, too, was to let the artists who weren’t able to physically come into the studio with us, just let them loose where they were,” says vocalist/lyricist Dan Haseltine. “I think a lot of artists create in a very controlled environment, where they’re taking cues from people on what they should be singing and how they should be singing it. We said to them, ‘What we really want is your instinct.’

“It doesn’t speak to the idea of community to tell them ‘sing this exactly like we did on the demo.’ We wanted them to do it how they’d do it, sing it how they’d sing it. If you hear other things that should be in the song, put them on there, then we’ll piece through it and figure it out what’s working with other peoples’ instincts.”

Even if it meant sometimes getting the exact opposite of what was asked for. “One of the ironies – at least I think it’s irony because I’m still confused by Alanis Morissette – was that some of the people we told to let loose would send back exactly what we sent them, and then others we’d tell ‘we need you to sing this exact part’ and they’d send us back something totally different,” Odmark says. “It was an interesting look in the mirror... ‘Oh. So this is what we’re like.’”

“Where you lead us, we will follow…”
What emerges on The Shelter is more of Jars of Clay’s signature sonics, informed by the season of their last project The Long Fall Back To Earth but echoing all the way back to its much-heralded self-titled debut, meshed with an heretofore underexplored inclusiveness of lyric that encourages the listener to join in on the song.

In short, these songs are designed to be sung aloud, with others, within the parameters of that listener’s own shelter.

For some, including the members of Jars of Clay, that will entail bringing them into the church environment proper, something that hadn’t really been a purposeful part of the band’s work before.

“One of the things we’re excited about with this record is to offer, with humility, what we’re excited about within the church,” Mason says. “We’re all big fans of the church. We attend church, so part of the passion we want to get to the people is that, hopefully, this is the language we can use to rejuvenate the way we speak about God in terms of each other.

“What has been, graciously, changing us is this idea that when we look around we see God in other people and in what they’re doing. We are the hands and feet,” Stephen continues. “We’re trying to find new language to describe stuff that we’re all probably in some regards cynical or bored about, because we want to believe there is life in those places.”

“In our weakness let us see, that alone we’ll never be…” Sometimes the hardest part of following the path you think you’re being led down is finding that motivation to keep going. And more often than not, that motivation comes from a place you least expect. Crafting The Shelter project has dominated the work thoughts of the men of Jars of Clay for more than a year, but it was the massive flooding in the Nashville area the first weekend of May 2010 and the subsequent aftermath that brought the idea of both a community in need and needing your community into stark relief.

The band experienced flood-related setbacks both personal and professional. Its recording studio suffered significant damage, as did Dan Haseltine’s home. But it was in that moment when the ephemeral idea of taking shelter within your community became concrete.

“When we were discussing making a record about community and really celebrating that, this story keeps coming up in my mind, because I realize that community can be inconvenience,” Haseltine says. “I’ve experienced that at my own house with people showing up with shovels and gloves and doing work that I couldn’t have done without them.

“A lot of us have experienced that; we’ve seen the character of our community,” Dan continues. “But we need Jesus to remind us sometimes that when we stop, we’re actually part of a great privilege, a privilege to be a community, a privilege to see God’s hand working and moving through us and for us.”

Pull out the roots we’ve dug in so deep, finish what you’ve started…help us to believe…

It’s never easy to change how you do what you do, especially after a decade and a half and a fair amount of success and acclaim. But tapping into new wells of creativity has long been a hallmark of Jars of Clay’s career, and letting go the reins and letting in a trusted community of talented people has generated one of the richest projects in the band’s long history.

It’s simply part of reacting to a change in the culture. “It used to be, when you met somebody new, the first question you asked was ‘So, what do you do?’” Haseltine says. “It’s becoming more and more that first question asked is ‘So, where are you from?’ Which means that we’re becoming a culture where we feel like our identity is more woven into the places where we live rather than the things we do for a living.

“So we hope this project will reflect this shift and reaffirm that as a more important thing, what we’re connected to as a community,” Dan concludes.

It’s a community that Jars of Clay has worked hard to build and engage with, and one that covers, comforts, strengthens, nourishes and emboldens. Like any good shelter should do.

Aletheia is the latest Christian Hard rock album released by American Christian Progressive Shred Metal band, Hope For The Dying also known as HFTD. This album was released on 19, March 2013 and released under the label Facedown Records.

Album Details::

Album :: Aletheia

Artist :: Hope for the Dying

Release Date ::
March 19, 2013

Genre :: Metal/ Progressive, Hardrock

Label ::Facedown Records

Location ::Jonesboro, Illinois, USA.

Hope for the Dying - Aletheia 2013 Biography and History
Hope for the Dying also known as HFTD is an American Christian Metal band from Jonesboro, Illinois. The band formed in 2006 and released their first album (a self-titled EP) in April 2008, the album was later repackaged and released with Strike First Records on November 25, 2008.

Hope for the Dying formed in November 2006 with sights set on bringing something different to the table. Tiring of the typical simplistic music that has manifested itself in the heavy music culture, Hope for the Dying brings new meaning to the idea of 'guitar-driven metal.' By blending the musical virtuosity of old school shred-metal pioneers like Iron Maiden and Metallica with the modern edge of today's progressive heavy-hitters like Between the Buried and Me and The Human Abstract, Hope for the Dying is developing a signature sound that is as technically proficient as it is fresh and unique.

In 2008, Hope for the Dying was featured in HM Magazine's 'Pick-of-the-Litter' section and subsequently inked a deal with the newly resurrected Strike First Records (a division of Facedown Records) and released their debut self-titled full length on November 25 of that year. In the two years following the release of their debut, Hope for the Dying matured in both their music and their line-up. As 2010 comes to a close, the band is stronger and more driven than ever before, and on December 1, revealed that they will be releasing a new album in mid-April 2011 on Facedown Records.

The band is currently writing and recording tracks for the highly anticipated follow-up, and is very excited about the direction in which the music is moving. "This is definitely the most ambitious music we've written to date," says guitarist James Houseman. "When we were writing for the last album, the process was so spread out, and then at the end we were just rushing to finish up a couple more songs, I think we felt like the album kind of suffered a little bit and didn't have the 'flow' that we would have liked." With the new album, HFTD has deliberately set aside an essentially uninterrupted block of time to focus on writing in hopes that their next release will have more continuity and consistency from track to track. "This is by far the most complex music we've ever made. We're trying lots of new things and so far we couldn't be more excited about how things have been going, " - guitarist Jack Daniels.

The as-yet-untitled project will be mixed by Brian Hood of 456 Recordings (A Plea for Purging, Before There Was Rosalyn) in Huntsville, AL, in early February 2011. "Working with Brian has been awesome so far, he's been really helpful to us in getting things prepared and making sure we come out with the best product possible" says Daniels. "We're thrilled with what he brings to the table and can't wait to work with him more as we get closer to wrapping this thing up!"

In the mean time, Hope for the Dying will be returning to the tour circuit in early 2011 with plans for coast-to-coast tours in both headlining and support roles.

Benjah - Vanity Fare 2013 Biography and History
Benjamin “Benjah” Thom is a critically acclaimed GRAMMY®-nominated and Dove Award-winning songwriter, producer, and music engineer.

Benjah was featured on and produced two tracks for Lecrae's latest project entitled "Rehab." It was nominated for both GRAMMY® and Dove Awards while reaching #15 on the Billboard top 200 and #1 on Billboard Christian charts. He also produced and was featured on "Blacklight" by Tedashii, which hit the Billboard top 200 and was #1 on the Christian charts. Benjah was one of the original members of Group 1 Crew and had the opportunity to produce and write for five songs on their self-titled freshmen project with Word/Warner Records, and won a Dove award for album. He has also worked with many other artists including mainstream neo-soul singer Angie Stone.

Benjah began pursuing music full-time after walking away from a football scholarship. He was was critically injured in a car accident that resulted in the death of the driver during his freshman year in college. He felt the Lord took away the idol of football and lead him towards a career in Christian music.

Pivotal events in life caused him to see that Christianity was not merely a singular thought or act, but, a life of mission, following Christ and reaching the masses with a testimony of Grace. Based on that, he set out to create an appealing unique sound with the good news weaved throughout hard beats and infectious melodies.

Benjah has traveled worldwide and has lived in various contrasting places. He has called Orlando, FL home for the past 10 years. Living among unique cultures and consuming their diverse musical styles has contributed greatly to the shaping of his distinct sound.

His first album, entitled “Filtered,” was the manifestation of years of professional music training coupled with the spiritual life lessons learned; many of them from personal tragedies and triumphs. "Filtered" featured high profile collaborations with Lecrae, Sho Baraka and Dillavou. Benjah’s next release was a duo album. ‘Introducing: Lov’d Ones’ was a Reggae and Hip Hop collaboration with Dillavou. It featured Christian Reggae Rock artist Dominic Balli and was very well received peaking at #2 on the iTunes reggae charts.

Benjah’s sophmore solo album is entitled “The Break Up”. The album uses a relationship metaphor to paint a picture of the Christian's fight against the flesh. It feels like love at first sight, but when the deception of sin is revealed, a 'Break-up' is essential.

Benjah’s talents as an accomplished music producer, writer and engineer are balanced with his vocal stylings and lyrical abilities. The album showcases heartfelt vocals laid over powerful production elements. His scripture-infused lyrics inspire you recognize deception and to hold fast to truth.
